May 11 was National School Nurses Day. School nurses are vital to the health and safety of our school communities. In its Policy Statement on school nursing, the American Academy of Pediatrics “supports having a full-time nurse in every school as the best means of ensuring a strong connection with each student’s medical home.”
We recognize that BTU nurses are caring and committed professionals who provide for the health and safety of our school communities in many ways. This year on National School Nurses Day we want to affirm our commitment to advocate for full funding of Health Services so that we will have a full-time nurse in every school. Please take a minute at some time this week to thank the nurse in your school for all that they do for the children of Boston.
