Tonight’s School Committee meeting will not be held at Faneuil Hall, either figuratively or literally. Faneuil Hall is one of our country’s proudest symbols of democracy, and it therefore would be inappropriate to schedule a meeting there with the Mayor’s appointed school board. The meeting instead will be at English High School. There will be a standing-room only crowd. The Pledge of Allegiance will be said, and the meeting of the appointed school committee will begin. And there’ll be no more pretense of democracy after the pledge. But the meeting is very important nonetheless, and we’d like you to attend.
