Citizens for Public Schools Event: Look Before You Leap Learning from the last 20 years before we jump into the next wave of ed reform. Lesley University, 1815 Mass. Ave., amphitheater – room 2-150, 7:00 to 8:30pm, Wednesday, Nov. 13. (Near the Porter Square subway station.) Massachusetts state leaders are preparing to adopt a new system of high stakes tests that has more tests in more grades. Meanwhile, the legislature is considering proposals to allow additional charter schools. Before we commit to escalating the changes launched 20 years ago, let’s look at what has happened so far. Citizens for Public Schools will lead the discussion, based on their report, Twenty Years After Education Reform, released in June. Come share your experiences with ed reform and hear about the plans for the new, bigger battery of high-stakes tests called “PARCC.” The forum is organized by state Sen. Pat Jehlen, with support from the Cambridge Education Association, Mayor Henrietta Davis, Like Minded Parents, and members of the Cambridge legislative delegation.
