The AFT is launching a new campaign called Learning Is More Than a Test Score. This campaign takes on the growing fixation on high-stakes testing in schools.
AFT President Randi Weingarten writes:
“I don’t need to tell you how this trend is getting in the way of our best efforts to improve schools. The campaign builds on other recent AFT efforts, including the testing resolution approved at this summer’s AFT convention and a petition in support of the resolution that attracted thousands of signatures earlier this year.”
The campaign includes a website, learningismore.org, and a LeaderNet toolkit. Please visit both sites to see the variety of materials we have posted. In addition to the online content, we have produced a number of other items we hope you will use to promote the campaign and its message, including buttons, pencils, fliers and postcards. Use this form to order materials.
This is just the first step in what will be our growing effort to restore the proper balance to our education system and make sure that teaching and learning”not testing”drive classroom instruction.
