Nearly 15 percent of Massachusetts high school students were bullied on school property in 2017, and almost 14 percent were bullied online, according to the CDC High School Youth Risk Behavior Survey — but the 2,031 reported cases in the 2017-18 school year suggest that few of those cases are being flagged to school officials and that they are acting on fewer than 1 percent of the total reported to the CDC.

State Department of Education data shows few students in Boston-area school districts are being suspended or removed from the classroom for bullying.
