At least a dozen local educators and students boarded a bus to Boston Common late Thursday afternoon for a rally and march, joining other communities around the state to continue the fight for public education funding.

“We all have a common cause in funding education,” said Christopher Garcia, first vice president of New Bedford Educators Association, set to be the new president.

In recent weeks, pressure has been on the legislature for substantial changes in funding including events, testimonies and a possible lawsuit from mayors of Gateway cities such as New Bedford.
