By May 20, the American Arbitration Association will be mailing out absentee ballots to all who requested them. The ballots must be returned by June 4. The election is on June 5, and anyone who hasn’t voted by absentee ballot may vote in person at the BTU, as usual.
The BTU membership has authorized the hiring of a director of organizing. See job position description here.
Here is the authorizing motion:
MOTION: That the BTU create new position, Director of Organizing. The Director shall be appointed from the membership by the President. Salary and benefits shall be those provided to BTU Field Representatives. The work year shall be 12 months. The Director of Organizing shall report to the BTU President, and shall be appointed for a term of one year, to begin on July 1, 2013, and to be evaluated and reviewed by the BTU President and the Executive Board in June 2014 to determine whether the position shall continue. Subject to approval by the BPS if necessary, the person shall be on leave with rights to return to a position upon ending service as Director of Organizing. The Director of Organizing shall work with the President, Executive Board and other staff members to strengthen the Union internally and externally.
Applicants need to do the following: Send a letter of interest here, along with a resume that details relevant experience and any letters of reference that support your application. The deadline for acceptance of all documents is Tuesday, June 4. Interviews will be conducted thereafter.
