The excess pool is now gone, to be replaced by the Post Transfer Placement Process (PTPP). The PTPP changes how teachers will bid for vacancies once they get into the teacher reassignment process. The PTPP also allows teachers for the first time to voluntarily leave their building without jumping through hoops. There are all sorts of nuances to this process, and all will be explained at informational sessions to be held at the BTU on Monday, January 14 from 4-6 PM and Wednesday, January 16 from 5-7 PM. Anyone interested in learning about the new process is welcomed to attend either session.
The PTPP does not change who gets involuntarily excessed. (Nor does it change the transfer process or the “open” posting process.) Teachers who get involuntarily excessed and/or those who actually opt to participate in the PTPP will get a separate invitation to a PTPP Practice Session on a date TBA much closer to when the process takes place, sometime in late March or April.
So if you think you may want to leave your school, you may want to attend the one of the sessions referenced above. If you are slated to leave the school because you will be excessed, you will receive an invitation to the PTPP Practice Session (formerly known as the mock pool) when the date gets closer.
