January 2 Professional Development Opportunity for Tech Specialists, Library Staff & Educators
The Office of Instructional and Information Technology is hosting an “unconference” professional development day on Thursday, January 2 from 8:30-3:30, OIIT@Madison Park. This will be the designated SY13-14 annual PD Day when “all specialty teachers shall be able to meet at least one day annually as a PD Day on one of the city-wide PD days already scheduled.” The PD Day is available for all tech specialists, library staff, and other interested teachers who do not have prior commitments in their schools.
(Ed Note: Tech Specialists and Library Staff who attend get 6 hrs credit towards their yearly PD schedule. Other Teachers who attend will need admin approval for hours to to count towards their yearly PD schedule.)
The day will be organized as a user-generated conference where participants drive the series of topics based on their interests and needs. Similar to an edcamp or unconference-like event, sessions topics are determined that day by participants. Potential topic ideas may include, (but are not limited to): Google Apps for Education, Twitter, Web & Multimedia Tools, Artbotics, Computer Science & PARCC Preparation. Educators who plan to attend are encouraged to share out additional topic ideas by filling out this brief Google form. Session topics will be finalized by all of the participants on January 2.
