For 11 years, Fund for Teachers, the Boston Public Schools and BPE have partnered in making professional development opportunities possible for BPS teachers through a competitive grants process. Teachers decide what it is they need — as individuals or as teams of teachers — to invigorate their teaching, inspire student learning and enrich their academic community.
Through a rigorous application process, teachers compete to have their ideas funded. In the 11 years of the Fund for Teachers program in Boston (including this year), 428 grants to full-time BPS teachers have been funded at over $1.5 million. This summer, 33 teachers will embark on significant learning expeditions, including to sites as varied as Columbia’s Teachers College, Italy, or Vietnam.
