BTU Unafraid Educators Scholarship for Undocumented BPS Graduates
The Unafraid Scholarship for BPS grads is back! In order to qualify for the Unafraid Scholarship, students must be undocumented and be a BPS graduate of a class of 2013-2018. There is no GPA requirement. Students who qualify must email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an application. Please include the following information in the email:
- Full name
- BPS high school
- Year of graduation from BPS high school
- Years of college attended (if applicable)
The Unafraid Scholarship was founded by the BTU’s Unafraid Educators in order to provide financial support for students who are not eligible to receive financial aid from the federal government due to their immigration status. It is a one-time grant made payable to the student. The amount of the scholarship will depend on the particular financial need of the student, the number of qualified applicants, and the funds raised in a given year.
Students must submit all materials by June 1 to email@example.com.
BTU Dependent Scholarships
This year, the BTU will award sixteen $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are dependents of BTU members. Read more and find out how to apply. The application and supporting documents must be received in the Union office no later than April 23. Recipients will be notified by May 18.
BTU Retired Teachers Chapter Scholarships
This year the BTU Retired Teachers Chapter will award three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, or grandnephews of RTC members. Please note that one of these scholarships is earmarked for a student who wishes to attend a vocational school or equivalent institution. Read more and find out how to apply. This application and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than April 2. Incomplete applications and those postmarked after the deadline will not be considered.
Rollins Griffith Teacher Center Scholarships
The RGTC invites all BPS seniors who are planning to study one of the creative arts or pursue a career in teaching to apply for a $1,500 scholarship! Apply online. All completed applications are due by 5 PM on March 2. Since 2004, the RGTC Board of Directors has awarded forty-five $1,500 scholarships to BPS graduates. These awards are intended to honor the memory and exemplary service of Rollins Griffith to the BPS school community. As the first African-American District Superintendent, Mr. Griffith recognized the dedicated service of BPS teachers and worked to organize a Teacher Center.
