- Hire six additional nurses to provide immediate coverage schools in need;
- Hire eight social workers to be deployed in schools where needed to be decided by a joint committee;
- Lower class size in all regular education Grade 6 and 9 classes;
- Hire a complement of replacement paraprofessionals who would be used in SPED classrooms on Day 2 and beyond in an extended absence.
The school department responded Tuesday, September 4, by rejecting just about all of out items.
The department accepted our offer to accept their salary offer. Naturally. And they agreed to implement the state evaluation form, though a year later than we had requested. We will try to work with them on this. The rest of their response was, well, disrespectful.
