So how does Matt Wilder get to continually say that we are looking to have unsatisfactory teachers “stay in a classroom without any changes for an entire school year”? He’s not telling the truth. And he’s doing it to spin misleading information to portray us negatively in the public eye. He ought to stop his misinformation campaign.
The BTU wants great teachers and we expect great teaching. Anyone who suggests otherwise has an agenda to mislead.
Finally on Mr. Wilder’s other point: that the BTU wants the teacher to remain in the classroom without any changes. Another baloney sandwich! Our proposal calls for the unsatisfactory teacher to get help, supervision, careful monitoring, prescriptions for improvement, resources, time, and so on. We’re not looking for a free ride, and Mr. Wilder knows it. We find it insulting to our professionals that Mr. Wilder would even suggest it. We do not condone poor teaching, and Mr. Wilder knows that as well. To suggest otherwise or to suggest we are looking for an “entire school year” is preposterous. Mr. Wilder ought to know better.
