The BTU Executive Board has approved the job description for the position of the new Professional Development Institute director. This will be a BTU position, funded equally by the BTU and the BPS, with full benefits. The director will work from the BTU office. See the job description on the BTU website. All interested candidates who meet the stated requirements are encouraged to apply by submitting an application here. The job description was developed by a group of six outstanding BTU teacher-leaders and had solid school department input. Applications, along with resumes, are due by close of business on Tuesday, April 23. Each application should include, but not be limited to, evidence of meeting each of the stated requirements, as well as a letter of interest of 500 words or less. All must be submitted electronically. Interviews will be conducted in May.
There is one small loose end regarding the job position. Those who drafted the attached proposal intend that this position become an 11-month position, i.e., the person chosen will be expected to work an additional 18 days and will earn 110% of his or her natural salary. At this time, funds for the extra time haven’t been identified, and we also recognize that it may be problematic for the person chosen to work this summer on short notice. So this particular issue will have to be worked out. Again, we encourage all eligible candidates to apply by the close of business on April 23.
