New Contract Needs Community Input
Next year the Boston School Committee and the Boston Teachers Union will negotiate a new contract, and the BTU would like to hear now from our community stakeholders. Help us engage our community members by inviting them to open discussions about what teachers, students, parents and community members would like to see as priorities for the upcoming contract negotiations. Ideas and input are welcome! Please save the dates and share this flyer. Please, contactJessica Tang with questions.

Join Unafraid Educators Across the Nation on National Educators Coming Out Day

Thursday, November 12: A Day for Teachers, Support Staff and Faculty to “Come Out” in Support of Undocumented Students

This is a day for educators — high school teachers, support staff, and counselors & college professors, adjunct instructors, faculty, counselors, coaches, admissions officers and financial aid officers. It’s a day for students — undocumented students who are in high school, in a technical program, getting their GED, in a community college or in four-year institutions. And it’s a day for allies — people who are not undocumented and believe that educators and institutions must take action alongside undocumented students.
The Coming Out Day will encourage educators to publicly come out and be proud of supporting and working with undocumented students. It will encourage students to reach out to their educators to showcase their support and take action and create a national support network of educators and highlight the challenges undocumented students face as a result of current immigration law and inequitable policies and resources. Finally, the day will help all of us engage in conversations about how to support undocumented students in schools and how to close the opportunity gap.
See the United We Dream website for more information, and be in touch with Jessica Tang with questions.
