There is one budget item at the House where our voice and advocacy will make a difference. An email campaign has been set up to assist and will take about a minute or so to complete. Thank you.
Safe and Supportive SchoolsThe proposed budget includes a line item specific to the Safe and Supportive Schools language that is included in the law “An Act Relative to the to the Reduction of Gun Violence.” The provisions of the law are such that funding is key for the effective implementation of the law in Boston and all Massachusetts schools. Funding for Safe and Supportive Schools is included in the House Ways and Means budget (line item 7061-9612). It is currently budgeted at $200,000, but more money is needed. Representative Ruth Balser has sponsored an amendment for $750,000 so that the law can be fully funded and whole-school learning environments can be created for students in Boston and across the Commonwealth. We have set up an easy-to-use campaign: Please email your legislator here and ask him/her to vote for FY16 Budget Amendment #442.
