We have teamed up with our state affiliate AFT-Massachusetts to launch an important campaign to support our students and our schools. We believe the budget should:
- Properly fund charter reimbursement and the special education circuit breaker
- Ensure the funding accurately reflects the enrollment at our schools by using September 2021 counts instead of October 2020
- Ensure the under enrollment pothole funds are distributed as soon as possible.
There are four State Senate budget amendments (#150, #194, #233, and #904) that address these concerns and advance our unions’ collective goals, sponsored by Senators Chang-Diaz, DiDomenico, and Gomez. We appreciate their support!
Now we need other legislators on board, too. Please take five minutes to write your legislators and encourage them to support these vital measures that will have an impact on our students for years to come.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Political Director Johnny McInnis or Political Organizer Roberto Jiménez-Rivera.
Lastly, please note that at this time, BPS has NOT changed indoor or outdoor mask policies. They are currently in conversations with the BPHC. We apologize for any confusion our Tuesday bulletin summarizing the Governor’s new guidance may have caused.
In solidarity,
BTU Officers and Staff
