The BTU Inquiry Project: Graduate Credit for Personal Professional Learning
“This is the best, most meaningful, most relevant, most challenging, most self-directed PD you will ever get to be a part of.” –BTU Teacher-Researcher

We are now accepting applications for year three of the BTU Inquiry Project. In this teacher-facilitated inquiry program, fellows conduct rigorous scholarly research on a question that is important to you and your students. The course begins in October. Read our frequently asked questions and see all application information. More details and the final course schedule are coming soon. See examples of last year’s work in this blog post by member Jennifer Dines and download the flyer (note new application deadline of September 21 at midnight).

Implementing UDL through Pre-Texts: A Creative Approach
Harvard Public School Partnerships, Boston Public Schools and Pre-Texts: Cultural Agents, invites fourth grade teachers to a five week professional development in Pre-Texts, a fun and flexible pedagogical approach that develops high order literacy and citizenship by using complex texts as prompts for making art. Sessions will be led by Pre-texts facilitator Trecia Reavis; Doris Sommer, Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and founder of Pre-Texts at Cultural Agents, Harvard University; Hilary Shea, Inclusion Specialist in the Boston Public Schools; and Paul Tritter, Boston Teachers Union, Director of Professional Learning. Please plan to attend all five sessions. The sessions are free. See this flyer for more details, or register today. Snacks and a light dinner will be served at each session.

Attention Arts Teachers: Spend Your Time in More Relevant PD
The BPS Arts Department has created a series of PD opportunities and encourages Arts teachers to discuss with your principal whether it would be appropriate to attend these sessions as more relevant opportunities than school-based PD. See the PD offerings. If you need more information on how to approach your principal, email Paul.
