This Week: EL Summer Symposium

Join the BTU Organizing team beginning today to learn about ELL students’ rights and BTU resources at this year’s EL Summer Symposium. Sessions will include: Authentic and Disciplinary Discussions for English Learners, Supporting Undocumented Students for Higher Education, and Building an Asset-Based Mindset. The symposium starts today and will continue tomorrow and Thursday, August 15-17 from 9 AM to 2:30 PM. Next Week! Teacher Summer Institute

Boston teachers never stop learning! For the first time ever, Boston Public Schools and the Boston Teachers Union will co-host a Teacher Summer Institute which will highlight best practices of some of our most passionate urban educators. From August 22-24, we will join together to help bring a shared vision for instruction to life across the district. Please note, this is open to all educators and is not exclusively for new teachers.

BTU Summer Organizing Institute: Session 2, August 29-31

NEW: Guest speakers Mass Nurses Association President Donna Kelley-Williams will be sharing lessons learned from the Tufts Nurses Strike, and Loretta Johnson, AFT Secretary-Treasurer, will be joining us Wednesday!

How can I advocate for my students and school? Please plan to join us August 29-31 for Session 2 of our Summer Organizing Institute! Childcare and meals will be provided. The Summer Organizing Institute is open to all members – both active and retired! Join us for organizing workshops, skill building and panels on school-based issues and education policy.
