NEW — BTU and BPS Receive Grant to Improve High School PD
The BTU and BPS have been awarded a grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation to bring teacher voice to district level decision-making. The grant focuses on improving the relevance of professional learning for high school educators by connecting them with colleagues with shared learning interests within and across schools. See a brief breakdown of the components of the grant project.

NEW — “The Networker” Grant Creates New Teacher Leadership Role
In order to realize the potential of the “Building Teacher Leadership” grant, we are now hiring for a “Networker,” a new teacher leadership role. The position is currently posted on TalentEd. We strongly encourage interested teachers to apply by the conclusion of February Break. Please email Paul Tritter or Shakera Walker with questions.

Resume and Job Search Supports Begin This Week
The BTU will offer regular workshops and job search supports that will run through the hiring season and on to the end of the school year. These sessions are open to all members. The first sessions will be held February 15, February 26, and March 5 at 4:30 PM at the BTU. Please sign up so we can plan for attendance.

NEW — Drop-in Lounges
Our Peer Assistants and PAR Consulting Teachers continue their series of drop-in support sessions on in-demand topics. Sign-up on My Learning Plan or just stop by:

  • Planning Lessons for Cognitive Demand: March 7 from 4-6 PM — Drop in for support in planning lessons with CDT. Please bring a lesson plan or two.
  • Artifact Lounge: April 4 from 4-6 PM — Drop in for support in selecting and uploading artifacts and in writing rationales.

Registration Now Open for EdCamp BTU on March 24
The Professional Learning Advisory Board and the BTU are sponsoring an EdCamp at the BTU on Saturday, March 24. EdCamp is a unique “unconference” for professional development where those in attendance lead learning for one another according to their interests. Register today.

 

Career Development Support for Paraprofessionals
In addition to the resume supports above, we have two additional opportunities for paraprofessionals to receive support in career advancement:

  • MTEL Informational Workshop: Join us on March 8 to learn about the MTEL tests for licensure. What tests do you need to take for the license and career you seek? What supports are available? Please RSVP.
  • Individual Career Advising: The career advising is designed to provide information and referrals to Paraprofessionals about undergraduate education, BPS professional learning, teacher licensure preparation, and other career advancement topics. The career advising will be offered monthly at the BTU offices and will begin February 8 from 3:30-6:30 PM.
