  • K1 Literacy Learning Site
    How do we embed literacy development in K1 classrooms? Join us for a Learning Site facilitated by K1 educators at Ellison Parks & Mildred Avenue K-8 that will address this question. It’s a half day professional learning experience where you can join together with colleagues, develop working theories towards a shared question, and see effective practices in action.   • Call for Part-Time Bilingual Education Practicum Supervisors
    Boston College’s Office of Professional and Continuing Education at Lynch School of Education and Human Development invites applications for part-time Bilingual Education Practicum Supervisors (BEPS) beginning in February 2023. BEPS support Bilingual Education Certificate (BEC) candidates virtually in receiving their Bilingual Education Endorsement. Full job listing can be seen here.
    Required Qualifications:
    •At least a Master’s Degree in Education or a related discipline;
    •Prior teaching and/or administrative experience at the PK-12 level in bilingual teaching instruction, such as dual language education, a two-way immersion program, or a transitional bilingual education program;
    •Minimum five years of teaching &/or administrative experience;
    •Experience with electronic management platforms (e.g., Google Drive, Google Docs) and video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) to foster professional collaboration.
    Timeline:
    February 2023 through June 2023
    Compensation:
    •$500 per BEC candidate supervised
    •Can supervise a maximum of 3 BEC candidates

    Middle Grades Edcamp 2/2: Teaching grades 6-8 is full of unique delights and unique challenges. So many of us are doing our best to make it work, but we are stronger when we collaborate. Let’s join together for an Edcamp to talk about how to support middle grades students and their educators. On Thursday, February 2 the BPS/BTU Telescope Network is hosting a virtual Edcamp on Zoom from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Teachers, paras, and other middle grades educators can share your questions and challenges, connect with colleagues from across Boston, and discuss solutions. Participants will earn 2 PD hours.   • STEM Professional Development: Storytelling by Coding
    In this virtual PD for teachers, we will explore how students can use visual coding languages to tell stories. They can express their ideas, points of view, or solutions. Teachers can adapt these activities to any subject area to deepen students’ understanding of the subject and give them another visual outlet.
