The Baker-Polito Administration announced on Thursday that three local schools are among those receiving state educational grants.

The Skills Capital Grants seek to help residents with barriers to employment, including those who are unemployed or underemployed, lack English proficiency, or residents who do not have degrees or certificates and need new skills to obtain good-paying jobs.

Massasoit Community College in Brockton was awarded over $122,000 for a HVAC- Building Systems Energy Management program. The funds will be used to purchase HVAC, oil burners, gas splitters, refrigeration controls, furnace controls, and steam boiler training and simulation systems. The equipment will also be used for Diesel Technology courses.

Quincy High School was awarded over $114,000 for the Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies program and the funds will be used to purchase multi-process welders, welding booth, portable ventilation systems, hand-held power threading machine, drill press, and computer systems.
