DISTRICT 4 AND AT-LARGE CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES PREPARE FOR CANDIDATE FORUMS HOSTED BY THE BOSTON TEACHERS UNION AND BOSTON EDUCATION JUSTICE ALLIANCE AND MODERATED BY YAWU MILLER OF THE BAY STATE BANNER AND MAX LARKIN OF WBUR

Boston, MA – Councilor Andrea Campbell’s decision to run for Mayor of Boston has led to about a dozen candidates declaring their candidacy for the Boston City Council District 4 seat that she currently holds. The BTU and BEJA will be hosting the first candidate forum for this important race. Seven candidates qualified for the forum based on qualifications for fundraising, signatures submitted for certification, and registration with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

Both organizations will then host another forum for At-Large City Council candidates. Using similar criteria, ten candidates have qualified. With At-Large Councilors Michelle Wu and Annissa Essaibi George running for Mayor, at least two newcomers will be elected At-Large. We look forward to engaging these candidates.
