City Councilor Annissa Essaibi-George will address the council today on unresolved issues plaguing Boston students — including BuildBPS, transportation, school safety and more — in attempts to prioritize major changes in the district over the next few years.

“It’s a compilation of the work we have undertaken in the last three years,” Essaibi-George said. “It’s work that still lies ahead, some topically refiled so we can continue to work on it, and deeper dive into some.

“It’s ongoing, but it’s work that’s important and measurable in both short- and long-range goals,” Essaibi-George said. “As much as I want to shrink the timeline to accomplish all of these things, it’s objective because some things do take less time than others.”

Her top priorities are school safety and student mental health, meaning the schools need to be prepared for a major incident like a school shooting, but also making sure the schools are taking care of students’ needs before it escalates.
