The end of the school year will be bittersweet next month as the two schools at the West Roxbury Education Complex close.
The last prom was held on Friday, May 17, at Venezia and was well-attended. A Sports Awards Night is planned for Monday, June 3, in the school auditorium. Urban Science Academy will hold graduation at 4 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Boston Latin School. West Roxbury Academy will hold graduation on the same date at 5 p.m. at Madison Park.
A farewell get together for the faculty is planned for Friday, May 31, at the Boston Teachers Union Hall in Dorchester. A planned open house for all alumni to come back and stroll about on Saturday, June 15, in the afternoon was cancelled as city officials denied a permit for the event. Taking its place is a “Farewell to Westie” dance at Moseley’s on the Charles in Dedham that evening. The event will run from 6 to 11 p.m. with free admission. There will be a DJ, pizza and snacks and some entertainment.
