We continue to monitor breaking changes related to the vaccine mandate. Today the City has issued a second extension of their compliance deadline for their new policy.
BPS and city employees are now allowed an additional week to come into compliance with the policy. No BTU bargaining unit member will be disciplined nor placed on administrative leave between now and January 31, 2022.
To both continue incentivizing vaccination and booster participation while avoiding further compounding of current staffing shortages, we have proposed that educators be able to stay until the end of the year while participating in mandatory testing until the end of the year if they are either not able or elect not to get vaccinated.
We continue to be in conversations with the City and will continue to impact bargain with the school district tomorrow. We will send out another special bulletin when and if we have further updates to share.
In solidarity,
BTU Officers and Staff
