  • The Examined Life: Greek Travel and Study Opportunity
    Registration is now open for the 2023 THE EXAMINED LIFE: Greek Studies in the Schools program. The program includes a Study Tour of Greece, April 14-23, 2023, interesting and vibrant Saturday morning seminars, and the opportunity to earn 3 graduate credits through Framingham State University.   • K1 Literacy Learning Site
    How do we embed literacy development in K1 classrooms? Join us for a Learning Site facilitated by K1 educators at Ellison Parks & Mildred Avenue K-8 that will address this question. It’s a half day professional learning experience where you can join together with colleagues, develop working theories towards a shared question, and see effective practices in action.   • Spanish for BPS Educators
    The Office of World Languages is offering an introductory Spanish course entitled, “Spanish for BPS Educators.” This free course will be taught by a senior lecturer at Boston University and the BPS Director of World Languages and will run on a weekly basis from 1/18/23 to 4/12/23, Wednesdays from 4:00pm – 5:00pm. The goal of the course will be to communicate with BPS Spanish-speaking students and families at a Novice Level with an emphasis on intercultural competency. We will use Google Classroom as a platform to offer live sessions. 11 PDPs will be granted. Limited to 100 participants. To sign up, please fill out this Google Form by 1/13/23. Questions?     Boston College’s Office of Professional and Continuing Education at Lynch School of Education and Human Development invites applications for part-time Bilingual Education Practicum Supervisors (BEPS) beginning in February 2023. BEPS support Bilingual Education Certificate (BEC) candidates virtually in receiving their Bilingual Education Endorsement. Full job listing can be seen here.
    Required Qualifications:
    •At least a Master’s Degree in Education or a related discipline;
    •Prior teaching and/or administrative experience at the PK-12 level in bilingual teaching instruction, such as dual language education, a two-way immersion program, or a transitional bilingual education program;
    •Minimum five years of teaching &/or administrative experience;
    •Experience with electronic management platforms (e.g., Google Drive, Google Docs) and video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) to foster professional collaboration.
    February 2023 through June 2023
    •$500 per BEC candidate supervised
    •Can supervise a maximum of 3 BEC candidates

    This online program is designed as a cohort model of 8 specialists like yourself, starting summer 2023 for one academic year. You will get the latest skills and competencies in the areas of computer technology in education, e-learning design, assistive technology plus an internship experience where you will work closely with a colleague(s) from your own school/district on a mutually agreed upon project.
