BTU/BPS Collaborate to Offer School-Based Professional Learning Grants
Does your school community have a challenge to tackle or a new idea that can make the difference for your students? Does your team of educators need funding to support professional learning to realize the vision? Submit a proposal for a grant co-sponsored by the BTU and BPS to support the leadership of educator teams. Applications are due on March 1, and decisions will be returned on or before April 1. 2017 AFT TEACH Applications Now Open!!!
AFT TEACH, our union’s national professional learning conference is a chance for teachers from across the country to get together and learn about professional issues, policy challenges, and classroom strategies. See the flyer for more information. This year’s conference will be held from July 20-22 in Washington, DC. The BTU sends members to TEACH each year, and priority is given to members who have not attended in the past. If you would like to attend, please apply at bit.ly/TEACH2017 by the deadline of March 12.

Forum on the Future of National Board in BPS and BTU
All National Board Certified teachers or those interested in the program are invited to a forum to and think about how NBPTS and NBCTs can play a leadership role in the BPS and BTU vision for teacher leadership. Join us on Tuesday, February 28 from 4:30-7:30 PM at the Boston Teachers Union. Dinner will be provided. Please RSVP so that we can plan appropriately, and contact Paul or Shakera with questions.

BTU Lesson Planning Lab: UDL this Thursday
Need a little help with lesson planning, or just want to collaborate with colleagues to share ideas? Join us for the second of two BTU Lesson Planning Labs led by our team of Peer Assistants and Consulting Teachers this Thursday, February 9 from 3-6 PM:Incorporating UDL into Your Planning. This is a drop-in session with a focus on secondary from 3-5 and elementary from 4-6 with a brief presentation and individualized support. Bring a lesson or unit plan you’d like to work on.
