Wednesday Deadline for BTU/BPS Professional Learning Grants
Does your school community have a challenge to tackle or a new idea that can make the difference for your students? Does your team of educators need funding to support professional learning to realize the vision? Submit a proposal for a grant co-sponsored by the BTU and BPS to support the leadership of educator teams. Applications are due on March 1. Access the grant description and application! 2017 AFT TEACH Applications Now Open!!!
AFT TEACH, our union’s national professional learning conference is a chance for teachers from across the country to get together and learn about professional issues, policy challenges, and classroom strategies. See the flyer for more information. This year’s conference will be held from July 20-22 in Washington, DC. The BTU sends members to TEACH each year, and priority is given to members who have not attended in the past. If you would like to attend, please apply at bit.ly/TEACH2017 by the deadline of March 12.

Personalized Learning Open House: Wednesday, March 1 from 4-5:30 PM at ​the Bolling Building
The Boston Public Schools is exploring how to prepare students for the innovation economy. Personalized learning–where we enable students to move into the future from their passions and interests–is one of the ways we are thinking about education. Join us for an evening of learning, sharing, and prototyping! There will be interactive exhibits and opportunities to discuss our district-wide work in these areas. Register ​now.

Calderwood Fellowship in Writing Instruction: July 2017 through June 2018
In partnership with UMASS/Boston, this summer the Calderwood Writing Initiative will offer a two-part graduate-level course on the teaching of writing. The course is open to teachers of all grade levels, in all subject areas, and from public, parochial and independent schools. The only requirement is a desire to explore methods of writing instruction. Each participant will receive a $1,000 stipend and tuition for six graduate credits upon successful completion of this program. Applications are due April 21. See the flyer for more information.

Designing Google Classroom to Support All Learners
Join a professional learning community of teachers in Grades 3-5 to design inclusive and collaborative learning using Google Classroom, Google Apps, and Read&Write for Google Chrome. Using a blended learning format with modules from Expeditionary Learning, participating teachers will learn how to implement the modules in ways that engage all learners, including SWDs and ELLs. Teacher-Created Resources from BTU Colleagues
BTRgrad.org is a toolkit of open-sourced curated resources for and by BPS teachers. These include teaching innovations, “next” practices and tools with attention to the often invisible moves that can get in the way of successful enactment.
