Good morning. We hope you had a restful week and a wonderful Patriots Day.
Two weeks ago we reported that the BTU had won an arbitration that will restore as many as 21 teachers back to their proper school as a result of the School Department’s misinterpretation of a Department of Justice regulation regarding RETELL. We have identified 21 displaced people, but we suspect there may be others in a similar situation. The Boston Public Schools issued excess notices to some members based on the fact that they did not currently have or were not making sufficient progress toward obtaining an SEI endorsement, a requirement to renew an educator’s license. The requirement from DESE, however, does not require this until July 1, 2016. If you think you have been excessed improperly for this or any other reason, please contact Patrick Connolly by email or at 617-288-2000. Two weeks ago we also posted a survey asking for comments from our members about what you
would want to see in the new BTU building. The link was incorrect. Thank you for your patience. We want to hear from you!
Questions about the proposed building, emailPatrick Connolly. On the Proposed New School Calendar Charlestown BTU Regional Meet & Greet on May 7
Please plan to join us on Thursday, May 7 from 3-6 PM for the Charlestown Meet & Greet. Finding it hard to make it to the Dorchester office? The BTU office travels to Charlestown this month for our monthly gathering in neighborhoods to hear from our members, share information, and answer questions you may have. Stop by for complimentary appetizers and fun raffles, too! See the flyer for more information.
And please save the date for our next BTU Regional Meet & Greet in Roxbury on Thursday, May 21!
