Mayor Bloomberg of NYC pushed the envelope a bit further this past week when he chose Cathleen P. Black to assume the NYC School superintendency. With no public school experiences, licenses, or even exposure, Ms. Black has to receive a waiver to assume the position.

In the last week, this story has taken off, as it points out some ‘new thinking’ in select educational circles. Experience is not important in running a school system.
