Parents are full of uncertainty about what the new school year will bring amid a transition to a new interim superintendent and the start of a search for the district’s next permanent leader.

The new school year starts Sept. 6 but a number of older initiatives put into motion by former Superintendent Tommy Chang are still in doubt, leaving many to question what will come next.

“There is a sense of uncertainty,” said Ronak Shah, a parent at the Lydon K-8 School.

“A lot of my confusion is what were Tommy Chang’s plans and what were Marty Walsh’s plans,” said Patty Neal, a parent at Mendell Elementary. “I feel like it is chaos as usual. I don’t know if there is disruption because of Tommy Chang leaving or every year there is disruption.”
