Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced Wednesday an expansion to a program that provides nutritious meals in public schools.
“There is no question in my mind that having good nutrition for breakfast and lunch in our schools — it’s a game changer,” Walsh said.
The My Way Café started as a pilot program in 2017 at four schools in East Boston. It was so successful that it’s now in 30 schools, with 25 more planned for this summer.
“When we think about bettering our education system, it’s not just about what happening in the classroom. It’s about better nutrition for our kids, better opportunities for our kids,” Walsh said.
