Competition to land Brenda Cassellius as the next superintendent of the Boston schools has intensified since Michigan education officials advanced her to the final round of their search for a new leader.
The Michigan State Board of Education, after two days of public interviews this week, narrowed its field for the state superintendent job from five candidates to three Wednesday. Cassellius interviewed for the Michigan job Monday via Skype — one day before she appeared in Boston for four rounds of interviews.
Cassellius, a former Minnesota education commissioner, faces competition from two sitting superintendents in Michigan: Michael Rice, who oversees the Kalamazoo Public Schools, and Jeanice Swift, who leads the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
