Mass. PTA Summit: September 26
This year’s Massachusetts PTA Summit is focused on mental health issues in our communities. Workshops will include information on how to promote health and safety initiatives for schools and families, advocate more effectively for legislative issues that impact children and schools, and work with schools and community leaders to support the well-being of our students. Find more information about the summit and register.
Sixth Annual Social Justice Mediation Institute: October 5-6 & 12-14
Vital Village Network is excited to offer the 6th Annual Social Justice Mediation Institute cost-free to selected applicants. Participants in the 40-hour training learn mediation skills to reduce conflict—addressing power dynamics, privilege, and identities—at home, in their neighborhood, with co-workers, and beyond. For teachers, the values and skills which guide mediation will be applicable to fostering an inclusive, collaborative classroom environment, and can extend beyond to supporting conversations with parents and fellow educators by equipping teachers with communication strategies. Find out more.

BPS and the BTU are pleased to offer support sessions for National Board candidates to teachers who plan to complete components 1, 2, and 4. Courses for components 2 and 4 will be offered this fall and will follow a hybrid model using in person, self-study and online sessions. The BTU seeks facilitators for Making Planning Manageable a coaching and support opportunity for educators in years 2 through five and beyond.  The course will help BTU members develop a sustainable weekly practice for planning standards-aligned units tailored to students, context, and content.
