BOSTON — More than 1,000 Boston Public Schools teachers and staff are out Tuesday, school officials said, as thousands of students returned to classrooms after the holiday break amid rising COVID-19 cases.
Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius said of the 1,074 staff members out, 461 are teachers and 52 are bus drivers. Over the weekend, 155 teachers and staff members reported having COVID-19.
