Labor Day: Workers Over Billionaires

  • Monday, September 1st, 9:30 am outside of the MA Statehouse.

The BTU, AFT MA, Greater Boston Labor Council, the MA AFL-CIO and regional allies are hosting Boston’s part of a nationwide protest to send the message that Workers are more important than Billionaires!

The Labor Day holiday was signed into federal law in 1894 during a time of crisis right after business owners across the country had ordered violent attacks against workers who dared to demand they be treated with dignity. It was a naked attempt  by the powerful to buy forgiveness. It was a freedom won through sacrifice. Most important, it was also the federal government’s first official acknowledgement that there is no America without workers.

We need to remind those in power of that fact. For the past six months the BTU and labor unions across America have united to try to resist the Trump Administration’s attacks on working people and public schools in order to provide tax cuts to billionaires.  And it’s been working. Shoulder to shoulder, everyday Americans have stood tall against the immense power of the Trump Administration and preserved essential freedoms.

Join us in front of the State House on Monday to remind the Trump Administration and his billionaire funders that the real America puts workers over billionaires. Following the rally outside of the Statehouse, we will march to City Hall. Find out more details and sign up HERE!
