Highlights of the Mattapan “community” meeting about BuildBPS:

● The Mattahunt School is now slated to keep adding a grade per year until it becomes a K-6 school, after being closed as a K–5 and then reopened as a K–1 last year.

● BPS officials intend to issue a longer version of the BuildBPS plan in a few weeks with more neighborhood detail.

● In new 7–12 secondary schools, there will be more seats in grade 9 than grade 7 to accommodate students coming in from K–8’s.

● Very few people came to the meeting, possibly because very few people were notified.

BPS officials led by Interim Superintendent Laura Perille brought the BuildBPS Phase II roadshow to Mattapan last Saturday.
