As the November charter school referendum battle takes shape, people on both sides of the charter cap issue have formed committees to push forward their respective viewpoints. The BTU has joined forces with the MTA, the AFTMA, and a host of local and state parent, community and student groups to fight the “outside” money ($18 million and growing) pushing the eliminate-the-charter-cap agenda.
The BTU membership last month voted unanimously to contribute up to $750,000 towards its share of the keep-the-cap campaign. The campaign to keep the cap is seeking to hire a wide range of people to work with us on this campaign. See a full listing of staff being sought, and feel free to circulate to interested friends.
