Due to a lack of money, transportation and collaboration between state and school officials, many students in the state’s foster care system are having a hard time getting the support and services they need, according to a new report by state auditor Suzanne Bump.
“The challenges that face school districts are operational and financial,” Bump said in an interview. “They are trying to provide education services for children in foster care, and they are straining their budgets in order to accommodate the needs of these kids, who generally have greater than average costs associated with them.”
