The School Committee is one day away from a vote on the future of the West Roxbury Academy-Urban Science Academy campus, and students, parents and faculty are gearing up for the final fight to stop the proposed closure.

“Of course we see the writing on the wall, but we have the mentality that no matter what we go down fighting. We won’t let the district steamroll over us,” said Allison Doherty, director of USA’s Symphonize program. She said the stress has been unbearable.

The School Committee will vote on the closure of the two schools Wednesday night.

“It is going to be very emotional on Thursday when the kids hear that they fought so hard and didn’t win,” Doherty added. “It is going to be devastating we are a very close-knit community.”

Urban Science English teacher Yana Minchenko said the crisis has her feeling hopeful, stressed and fearful at the same time.
