Nearly a dozen organizations are calling for a moratorium on the closures of three BPS schools until the full BuildBPS plan can be released, debated and approved.
The groups — consisting of organizations such as the NAACP, the Citizen’s for Public Schools, Harbor Point Task Force and more — say the School Committee hasn’t released the appropriate amount of information to allow students, families and the communities to understand the vision of BuildBPS. They also say the district needs to keep the school communities intact.
“The plan does little to answer the question, ‘What are the long-term plans for the schools of my children, and the children across our city?” the organization wrote in a statement. “And ‘how will the … recommendations of the plan affect current students and communities?’”
