The head of a Massachusetts teachers union slammed President Donald Trump Tuesday for suggesting that armed educators could prevent future school shootings, like the one in Parkland, Florida.
Tom Gosnell, president of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, slammed Trump for floating the controversial idea of giving “concealed weapons to gun adept teachers” in wake of the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
He further called on the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to formally vote against what he called “the president’s ill-informed and threatening proposal to arm classroom teachers.”
