MEJA Week of Action on Charter Accountability

As part of a larger state-wide coalition, the BTU is participating in actions and awareness building around Commonwealth charters and the important accountability issues including: funding inequities, lack of community accountability, push out and hyper-discipline. On Tuesday, October 13 the State House will be hearing a series of bills designed to lift the cap on Commonwealth charters. Here’s how you can help:

Keep an eye out each day this week on our BTU Facebook page for reports, images and articles to share with your network.

Choose a day to wear your “Public Funds for Public Schools” sticker with other members in your building. Stickers were sent to all Building reps early this week. Tweet and Facebook it with the hashtag

#KeeptheCap. Don’t forget to send it to us at Organizing DirectorJessica Tang.

Come out on Tuesday, October 13 after school to the State House (Gardner Auditorium) and give your testimony on how Commonwealth charter expansion would hurt all students in Boston through even greater cuts to school budgets. Please contact Political Director Angela Cristiani if interested.

Sign the petition to keep the cap on Commonwealth charters!
