Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is scheduled for October 2, 2016. The BTU has been active participant for over ten years. This year it’s important for us to begin fundraising before September. I’m looking for anyone who would like to help create a committee to not only raise funds, but additional awareness about this dreadful disease. Everyone knows someone that has been stricken with cancer. I have created a team page for the 2016 walk (BTU Walkers). We need your help. Please contact me, Brenda Chaney, at 617-922-1275 or bchaney@btu.org

Verizon Worker Strike Rally
Please join us downtown on Wednesday, May 11 for a lunchtime rally in support of striking Verizon workers. See the flyer for more information.

BUILDING REP ELECTIONS Reminder
This is a friendly reminder that earlier this year, the membership voted to change the by-laws and conduct Building Rep elections for next year in the month of May. This will enable us to better communicate with staff and reps over the summer and better prepared for the fall. With the many challenges facing us ahead, communication over the summer is imperative. Please remember to confirm your election results here or download the form to turn in.

LGBTQ Committee Listening Session
Young people listening session to learn what students needs are around LGBTQ issues in schools. Please share with interested students that the event will take place on Thursday, May 12 from 4:30-6 PM at the Bolling Building, Room 3-43(16).

LGBTQ Senior Legacy Film
Boston Public Schools and the Boston Teachers Union are collaborating to make a “LGBTQ Senior Legacy” film that will feature up to 12 current LGBTQ-identified seniors from all over the district. Please suggest current seniors to appear in the video. There will be a focus group and we will begin filming on Monday, May 9 from 4-6 PM at the Bolling Building, 2300 Washington Street in Roxbury. Teens and adults are welcome to come together; refreshments will be provided.

Henderson School at Mother’s Day Walk for Peace

The march supports the Peace Institute’s work in supporting families that have been victim of violence and promoting peace in our communities.
