Yesterday 175 students on 35 school teams participated in the third annual BTU-sponsored citywide MathRocks competition. All participants left with the competition with a MathRocks T-shirt, a certificate of achievement, a ribbon, and an understanding of the worth of academic competition. Oh, yes, there was also pizza, snacks, and a DJ.
Many people worked to make this happen, including — and especially — retired teachers Pat Yingling, Jan Dwyer, and Phyllis Kirchner. The mayor and the superintendent were both on hand to bring greetings and encouragement. Here’s what the district posted, and here are our award winners, both individual and team.
