More than 140 BTU Building Reps and other school leaders attended our annual convention in Dedham this weekend, where much information and many great ideas were shared.

We spent all day Saturday in interactive workshops on a host of issues and topics, such as the who’s, what’s and why’s of faculty senates, School Site Councils, and Performance Evaluation, and an intergenerational look at unionism — just to mention a few topics. On Sunday we heard from the school department’s CFO, John McDonough, who brought us a message from the superintendent who was called unexpectedly out of town, and the executive director of Capital and Facilities Management, Carleton Jones, who walked us through the five separate student reassignment proposals. The days were informative, and we will set up a mechanism shortly to share what information we have on the workshops presented.
