We hope this email finds you well. We’re writing with some important updates regarding the Omicron Surge and city vaccine mandate:
- This morning, we met with BPS again to impact bargain the vaccine mandate. We will have a meeting for those impacted on Monday, January 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to resuming negotiations with BPS later that afternoon. We will provide information and updates at that meeting. Please sign up here by 1 p.m. Monday. Everyone should continue to report to work on Tuesday and until further notice.
- BTU will be holding a vaccine clinic this Tuesday, Jan. 18 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Union Hall (180 Mt Vernon St, Dorchester). The clinic is for BPS educators and walk-in only.
- BPS has opened a new COVID-19 testing site inside the Bolling Building. The site opens to the public next week and will be available for walk-ins Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 8 p.m. The site soft launching yesterday through Saturday and inviting BPS employees to sign up for an appointment. The hours for these next few days are as follows: Friday 1/14 12 – 8 p.m.; Saturday 1/15 12 – 8 p.m.
- As a follow up from our membership meeting, please see the slide on the decision-making process for determining if a classroom or school goes remote. You can also see whole presentation from Wednesday’s School Committee.
- Today, many students participated in a student walk out for safe schools.We ask that BTU members not penalize students for participating in this action in solidarity with their demands for safe schools. Please see this flyer with their demands.
