Teachers’ Bargaining Unit Jobs Now Posted
Job postings for positions in the teachers bargaining unit for school year 2018-19 are now posted on BPS TalentEd. Additional vacancies will be posted on a rolling basis. Please apply and to recheck the listings on an ongoing basis.
All positions are now open posted, meaning they are open to all internal and external BPS candidates equally. Please download a copy of each position applied for in order to best interview if invited to do so and to monitor the implementation of the job description in the fall if selected. There will be no Post Transfer Placement Process (PTPP) or excess pools for permanent teachers per our new contract, so all teachers who are excessed should aggressively apply for positions via these postings.
Provisional teachers are reminded to use personal email addresses on their resumes and applications. Nurses and some other related service provider positions will be posted within the next two weeks according to OHC. Permanent teacher unit members can view the seniority lists on Aspen. If any permanent teacher in an “autonomous” or “turnaround” school received their excess letter after the last day of February, they should contact their respective BTU Field Rep, Caren Carew or Mike McLaughlin.

Accelerated Community to Teacher Application Open, Due by March 31
Interested in becoming a teacher in BPS? Know someone in the greater Boston area who wants to become one? The Accelerated Community to Teacher (ACTT) Program is a part of an overarching strategy to increase the diversity of exemplary educators in the district’s teacher pipeline. The ACTT Program prepares racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse educators to become teachers with a provisional license in a single content area including, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Secondary Mathematics, Science, English, History, or Humanities. BPS paraprofessionals and substitute teachers are encouraged to apply. All materials must be received by 11:59 PM on March 31. Our Peer Assistants and PAR Consulting Teachers continue their series of drop-in support sessions on in-demand topics. Sign-up on My Learning Plan or just stop by the Artifact Lounge on April 4 from 4-6 PM. Drop in for support in selecting and uploading artifacts and in writing rationales.
Need Mentoring for Licensure?
Sign up for BPS Online Mentoring (BPSOM) to fulfill the “50 Hour Requirement for Professional Licensure.” Beyond your first year of induction support, the Massachusetts DESE requires that you receive an additional 50 hours of mentoring in your 2nd/3rd years of teaching to be eligible for your professional teaching license. BPSOM provides that required support. BPSOM Spring Session #3 beginning Monday, April 2 is now up on MyLearningPlan. There are four posted BPSOM Session 3 Sections (K0-1st; 2nd-5th; MS; HS).
