  • Brandeis Teacher Leadership Program
    Are you ready to take your teaching–and your career–to the next level without leaving the classroom behind? If so, consider applying to the Brandeis Teacher Leadership Program to gain the skills you need to work effectively with colleagues and administrators to strengthen instruction and professional culture at your school. This innovative hybrid program combines 2 intensive summer sessions at Brandeis with online learning and 1:1 coaching during the school year. Due to the pandemic, Summer 2021 will take place online July 5 – July 30, but we expect to be back in person for Summer 2022. We are also excited to announce a new partnership with Salem State University. Any teacher who completes either the AGS (4-semesters) or EdM (6-semesters) program at Brandeis can continue for just 1 more year at SSU and earn a CAGS and principal licensure in MA.   • Online TESOL / TEFL Certification
    Teach English Abroad – Are you interested in working as an English language teacher around the world? UNI-Prep’s online TESOL & TEFL Certificate program qualifies an individual to work as an English and ESL/EFL teacher internationally. The program is completely online and is 120-hours in length. Since the course is online, it allows you the option to study from anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer with an internet connection. In addition, there is no set schedule that you must follow, so you can study at your own schedule. Once you have registered in the course, you will be given a login and password allowing you accesss to the course 24/7 from any computer. Most students take 2-4 weeks to complete the full TESOL Certification program, but you can take more or less time than this depending on how often and quickly you will study. Once you have finished the course, you will choose whether to be issued a TESOL or TEFL certificate since our course meets the requirements of both qualifications. 
  • Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA) Externship
    AGC MA’s new Building Advancement Externship program is a 40-hour hybrid externship that will take place the week of August 16th to August 20th. Five educators will be selected to participate and receive a $4,000 stipend once they have completed the program. The externs will form a cohort for two virtual and three in-person days learning all about commercial construction from industry-leading employers. Learn more about AGC MA here.
  • Closing the Literacy Achievement Gap: The Science of Language & Literacy

    Join us for this 2-day virtual interactive workshop to close the literacy achievement gap. Learn how language and reading development can be supported and optimized for elementary school-age children. You will identify common brain and behavior myths, differentiate types of reading challenges, identify the needs of diverse learners, and apply your learning to real-world teaching scenarios. Additionally, we will discuss how the pandemic has contributed to this gap and provide updates in research and practice throughout the workshop. Engage in case study analyses, small group problem-solving, and self-assessment of classroom practices.

    We are happy to renew our partnership with Teachers as Scholars which provides BTU members an opportunity to learn from leading scholars in their fields. This year we are able to offer BTU members up to 30 full scholarships. If you are interested in attending a course, please review the lineup of courses, and then enter the drawing.  Winners will be selected at random in September.  Important note: Many of the seminars take place during the school day. Should you enroll in one of these courses, you will need to make appropriate arrangements to be available to attend.

  • Equitable Literacy PD Session for Paraprofessionals
    Intro to Equitable Literacy in BPS: BPS will be focusing on shifting how we teach children to read, make sense of, and write texts.
